A Strategic Approach for Architects & Interior Designers

Every space has unique requirements, whether it's balancing privacy with openness, ensuring brand alignment, or enhancing natural light flow while maintaining a specific aesthetic vision.

By leveraging custom-designed window films and graphics, designers can create spaces that are not only functional but also visually engaging. Recent projects at Caulfield Grammar School, Bendigo Bank, Sacred Heart Girls College, and St. Vincent’s Hospital demonstrate how strategic customisation enhances both aesthetics and usability.

Caulfield Grammar School – Privacy Without Sacrificing Openness

The challenge at Caulfield Grammar School was to design a privacy solution for a large, open-plan space while preserving natural light and maintaining an inviting atmosphere. The goal was to create and design a solution that integrated seamlessly into the environment without feeling obstructive.

The Custom Solution:

A two-point fade effect in white, extending up to 1800mm, was combined with black silhouettes of various school activities and sports. This thoughtful design approach:

  1. Maintains natural light while providing necessary privacy

  2. Seamlessly integrates into the architecture

  3. Adds a dynamic visual element, reinforcing the school’s identity

The result is a functional yet visually engaging space that supports both practical and decorative objectives, making it an effective example of privacy management in educational environments.

Bendigo Bank – Blending Privacy with Brand Identity

At Bendigo Bank’s Rye branch, the objective was to enhance aesthetic appeal, privacy, and brand consistency, creating a welcoming and functional space. This design was later implemented at two additional Bendigo and Adelaide Bank locations, highlighting the scalability of custom film solutions across multiple sites.

The Custom Solution:

A stunning purple blur fade effect, overlaid with a delicate floral pattern in pastel blues and greens, was designed to:

  1. Reinforce brand identity while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic

  2. Enhance privacy through a subtle yet effective dot matrix pattern

  3. Create a visually engaging experience for customers and staff

The dot matrix effect was a particularly innovative addition and allowed for a gradual transition between transparency and opacity.

St Vincent’s Hospital – Merging Function with Australian Art

In healthcare environments, the role of design extends beyond aesthetics—it directly influences comfort, calmness, and patient well-being. For St Vincent’s Private Hospital, the challenge was to enhance privacy and decorative elements while maintaining a sense of openness and tranquility.

The Custom Solution:

A three-layered printed window graphic and wallpaper was installed to:

  1. Create a calming, visually appealing environment

  2. Incorporate privacy elements without making spaces feel enclosed

  3. Seamlessly integrate the supplied artwork into the hospital’s interior

While the artwork was provided externally, the strategic layering and placement of privacy films ensured a harmonious balance between aesthetics and function.

The Value of Customisation in Architectural & Interior Design

These projects highlight a fundamental truth: customisation is key to successful architectural and interior design solutions. Whether it’s:

✔ Balancing privacy with openness
✔ Integrating branding seamlessly into the design
✔ Enhancing functionality without compromising aesthetics

Every project presents unique challenges, and tailored film and graphics solutions can transform spaces into high-performing, visually engaging environments.
